Gonna be reinstalling the oil pan and timing cover and was wondering which should be installed first/last due to them both sharing part of the oil pan gasket.

Also, Should I be using a gasket sealant such as hylomar or permatex? or running them dry? The gaskets I have are both cork.

    Thanks in advance.

Been a long time on an F4 for me.
I think I'd install the timing cover first, then the oil pan.
    But that's just me.
I would use a light coating of some type of sealant of your choice.

    Timing cover first.
Cork can be installed dry. You can put a dab of sealant where the pan gasket meets the timing cover gasket.
Insure the sealing surfaces of the pan are straight and the bolt holes haven't been pulled. A flat surface and a ball peen hammer will take care of any warping or bad bolt holes.
