V6 Oil Pickup Screen/tube

    I dropped the oil pan to replace the gasket on my ‘66 225 and while I was there, I decided to remove the oil pickup screen/tube and give it a cleaning too. I noticed the pickup screen was a different style than one I had off of a spare engine. Is one better or more preferred than the other?

    I would run the one in pict #1. It has a bypass valve which the earlier screen doesn't.
