The driver’s side has holes in it for the obvious steering column and clutch/brake pedals, but why is the passenger’s side shaped like this? Anyone know?

Are we talking about the potential to allow right-hand drive?

That’s what I was thinking, but why not make a mirror image of the driver’s side panel for both sides?

I'd suggest that whatever it means, the original military specifications may be the clue.

The real question is what are you doing with a CJ5?

I sit corrected, but the question still stands.

The original M38A1 heater mounted to the passenger kickboard (prototype CJ5's had a plate there).

We’re building a SEMA-style ‘66, and they want the engine compartment to look the part. I’m replacing those lower panels with ones I’m fabricating from scratch. I just want to make sure I’m not overlooking a reason to retain that cutaway.

I matched the driver side to the passenger side without the 90 degree lip. Headers run through, it was hacked and i liked the symmetry.

That heater has to be the reason.

I had a couple of failed job prospects. I have an absolute dream job lined up, but the guy I’d be replacing has to retire first. Will most likely only be a month or two. While waiting, I took my old job back at the 4x4 shop.

Maybe I missed a step, but I thought you had the dream job - at the 4x4 shop?
