    Hey all,
I am kicking around the idea of swapping out the OEM manifold for something like an Edelbrock aluminum intake.
Do you recommend the EGR model or non EGR model?
Anyone tried the Performer RPM air gap model?
Any other manifolds you have had success with?
If I use the Motorcraft 2100 until I get a 4 barrel, will the adapter cause performance issues?

    Thanks

What are your plans for your Jeep. If low RPM rock crawling is in your future I’d probably stick with the Edelbrock Performer. If mud or sand is in your future and you need wheel speed the Edelbrock RPM is a fantastic manifold up till about 6500. But, you’ll need to insure your valve springs won’t float at 4500.

I’m going to assume you’re putting this on a 304. Since the 304 has significantly less torque than a 360 or 401, I’d suggest a very mild RV cam, Edelbrock Performer and a 600 CFM 4 Barrel.

    Hi Joe,
Thanks for the reply. Yes, it's a 304 and I don't plan to go rock crawling but realistically 99% street with some highway and possibly mud. Would the Comp Cam 268H or XE256H be a good choice to go along with the Preformer RPM manifold?

If you’re planning on on using the RPM manifold I’d definitely go with the 268 cam. But I’d definitely also make sure I have good valve springs. I’d break the cam in on the old springs and then do a spring upgrade.

If you go with the 256 the Performer manifold would probably work best.

For max power I’d go with a Holley Carburetor, probably a 650 or slightly smaller. vacuum secondaries. For best drivability I’d go with a 625 Edelbrock carburetor, the Edelbrock will probably work best right out of the box.

pick your cam first, it’s like the heart of your motor. Then choose all the other parts.

I've run the 304 with the 268H cam and the Edelbrock performer with a Holley 4160 and headers and it was all the power I dared to use in a CJ7..
