I just ordered a BDS 2.5" lift kit, mostly based on the great reviews here. The CJ has some long shackles right now, I'm sure they aren't stock because they are like 4.75" from center bolt to center bolt (My understanding is that stock measures 2.75")

My question is should I change those shackles? Go with stock height or maybe a small lift because of the higher leafs? If so is there any good recommendations?

Also, if I change them I should change all 4 correct?

PS; Would I need any shims to correct any shaft angles with the new suspension?

    Appreciate all the help!

Ditch those long shackles. A 1" longer shackle gives you about a 1/2" of lift. A high quality, modest length greasable shackle as Jeepstar noted will serve you well.
You have a dana 30 front axle. After lift installation use an angle finder on the " flat" at the top of the steering knuckle to measure caster. You will want 5-7 degrees for good tracking and handling. There are several sources for quality ( steel ) shims. Note don't torque your ubolts until you check caster.

Ok so 1/2" lift means 1" longer. I'll try and find some to replace all 4.

I saw that the Warrior 1/2" ones come with just the bolts and nuts and no bushings. I have to get new bushings for both the hanger and the leaf spring? Or does the BDS leafs come with bushings?

Also I saw Warrior has a kit with greasable bushings, I've read that those type of bolts are weaker and can be damaged easier than the non greasable ones, should this be a concern?

Get the greaseable bushings, never heard of anyone with a reasonable size tire/wheel combo breaking a bolt
