1969 Cj5 10" Brakes

Omix makes a kit for a 78-86 Jeep CJ-5, CJ-7 & CJ-8 that is a 10"x2" Drum Brake Master Service Kit (New Drums, Springs, Clips, etc.). Can anyone confirm that this would fit my 1969 CJ5 with 10" Brakes?

 

Different beast, nope.

 

Just go to 11" brakes. You will be happier unless you upgrade to front disc or disc all around.

Drums & shoes available from Rock Auto, and probably your FLAPS as well.
Hardware for these is hard to find, though. If you have missing or broken components, do the aforementioned 11" conversion ( or discs).

Page nav is clunky, but all the parts are there.

 

I don't see any of the self adjuster parts there, that's the stuff that seems to be unobtanium.

Near the bottom of the page, part nos 945303 and 945304

 

Thats the brake shoe adjuster....but none of the self adjusting mechanism is there.

 

I believe the OP is referring to the unobtanium self adjuster spring which is not available yet in a repop.

Are you speaking of the blue coiled spring, or the gray pressed metal piece at the very bottom?

And if the OP is refreshing original brakes, there's little reason to think that gray piece and the 6" wire that triggers it couldn't be reused.
