I have been cleaning out my garage/house/yard/my entire life in preparation for my daughter’s backyard wedding this Saturday. I found a bunch of stuff that I will be posting for sale but not until after this coming weekend. I think these grommets will be easy to deal with.
I had a squeak (my Jeep did) that started driving me crazy. I noticed it when watching some videos after the 2020 Colorado ECJ5 trip (3 years ago!). When I was driving in Colorado, I was smiling so loud I didn’t hear the squeak. After watching the videos of the trip, the squeak was all I heard when driving the Jeep. I went on a search to find the squeak. I finally found that the speedometer cable was rubbing where it passes through the firewall. There was no grommet. I found the correct size grommet (I think McMaster Carr, but it has been a couple of years now). I had to purchase a bag full to get the size I wanted. I sliced the grommet, put it around the speedo cable and slipped it in place. It fits perfectly. The grommets I have are new but have been on my work bench for two years. After putting a few aside for a ‘future project’ I have 19 that I will mail to you (one at a time) for the price of postage. I think one will mail ok in a standard envelope for regular 1 oz. postage.
The ID is .9”, the OD is approximately 1.63”, the groove is approx. .14” wide, they fit in a 1.25” hole, and are 1/2” thick. I don’t know what other holes it will fit or what other vehicles this will work on. I have a 71 CJ-5 FWIW.
I’ll send you a grommet and you send me a forever stamp in return.

I'm pretty impressed that you were able to narrow down that squeak. =)
I'm usually chasing thumps, bumps and bangs.

It took many weekends to track it down. I remounted a fender and the grill. I tightened all the bolts I could find (surprising how many were not tight more surprising none of the bolts broke.). I had Sue in the driver's seat while I bounced on the front bumper. The other noises don't seem to bother me, but that squeak was driving me crazy.

The grommets went out yesterday I just used a regular envelope with the grommets folded inside some sheets of paper. Let me know how the envelope looks when you get it.

Okay, so I had to get educated by my local post office. These grommets are thick enough that the envelope cannot be sorted by automatic machines. These need to be sent as a 'package' not a standard envelope rate. The grommets I sent came back as they didn't have enough postage. I sent the second package to Jeepstar, hoping these get to him. The cost to sent these, from So. CA. to WI. was $5.00 and change. The postal worker said the cost would be slightly different with different zip codes ($4 plus western US, $6 plus to the east coast). Now that I have this figured out I can send more out if anyone is interested.
