I'm trying to remove the tool box lid before I blast and paint the tub. It looks like I should be able to use a nail set to drive the pins out, but I can't tell if they are stuck in with paint or if they are threaded in place. Anyone have any ideas about that? Thanks.

If they’re anything like mine, they’re just a straight piece of metal with a slight bend in em to keep ‘em in place. Should either be able to grab one end with pliers and yank em out or a tap with a punch to get em started.

I couldn’t tap them out but I got enough room to get a cut off wheel in there. Any idea where to source the replacement hinge pin?

I was able to knock mine out with a punch. I used some brass rod for new ones, 1/8" IIRC.

    Yes 1/8”. Why brass?

    Welding rod? Coat hanger?

I suppose you could buy drill rod or such, but it will get almost no wear.

My “pins” are just some brass rod that’s about 1/2 longer than the hinges…. bent at the ends to keep ‘em from sliding out.
