    Would have been a better deal if you had two of them.
    MSD boxes of that era were notorious for going bad, so bad that serious racers always had 2 of them wired up with a switch to transfer in the event of failure mid race.
    Think about how little run time a race car has compared to a street car, not exactly the reliability that most expect out of an adventure rig.

    I ran one of those for about 15 years and never had any issues. Alway easy starting and ran very well. Those oddfire units don’t come up very often, let alone new in box.

    I hope you aren’t using the 6446 MSD box on your SBC. Thats the odd-fire version. You likely have the 6400 or 6420 MSD box.
