pilot bushing installation

what is the best way to install a pilot bushing?

 

Flip a socket over and tap it in.

 

Dido, doesnt really matter, as long as it has a good contact surface with the bushing, and tap it in.

 

I've always heard that one should soak it in oil for a day, then put it into a refrigerator.

The oil is for lubrication of the porous bushing, and the cold is to make it go in easier.

Last one I did I had put in by the shop since they were refinishing the flywheel anyway.

 

55 cj5 4cyl i just tapped mine in with a hammer and wood block till ti was flush with fly wheel

Kamel soaking a bronze bushing in oil will not allow oil to saturate the bushing the material is not that porous, (old wives tale). Oil lite bronze is heated and the oil is put in under extreme vacuum. Now putting it in the freezer before installation will help greatly.
