Torrington Bearings

I am changing out an overdrive bowl gear to the Teralow bowl gear, and there are 2 torrington drawn cup roller needle bearings that need to go in the bore, that didn't come with the nice expensive gear from you know who- (rhymes with "germ"). So, I call him, he actually answers, and eventually tells me these bearings can only press in one way-from the numbered side. Anyone ever heard of this? I searched, and did not find this info.

Well there it is. Thanks, you are a better searcher than me. I'll take back some of what I said about Herm today. What I don't get- he is the guy now for Teralow gears. Even AA buys them from him. I buy a set from him, does he offer to put the bearings in it? No. Then today tells me he has the installation tool, but I am on my own. So now to make or buy a drift that will install the bearings.

 

Agreed. Doesn't seem safe to install without a proper tool
