I now know I have 5.38 gears in the 62 CJ5 Diferentials according to the factory tags. Dana 27 front and Dana 44 rear. On the tag on the Rear End it said use Liminted Slip Gear lube. Is there another name for this Diferential like Detroit Locker ect? What type are they asking for? Is it the same fluid I use in my Liminted Slip 98 Dodge rear end? I did check and the rear end is a Locker of some sort. It seems to be locked all the time turning it by hand only would this be right? Thanks, Mark

Probably a powerlock limited slip differential. Oil that says for use in limited slip should be ok.

I've just been reasearching the limited slip D44 in mine. Dana's unit is called a Trac-Lock, biggest problem appears to be that the clutch packs wear out easily (mine's toast).

The early units were Powerlocks and the later ones, I think 72 and later were Trac- Locks

Trac Loks have two large cutouts that you can see the spider gears through. The Powerlok is a solid case.
