Txtoller noted this place has reproduction seat frames in one of the WTB threads:
I was noodling around on their web site and noticed they seem to have reproduction seats that appear to be the original style. $499.95 for a pair of brand new seats. That's less than the cost of recovering originals if you even have them:
They look pretty true to the originals in the picture. I'd be really curious to see them in person.

I know nothing about this company. It looks like they are based in Orlando.

I think the originals are better than the Smittybilts but the Smittybilts are by far the best aftermarket seat I've found so far. I'm very curious about these reproductions. Someone needs to buy them and report back!

These seats are made by Amco according to the company selling them. I have an Amco car cover that is very nice quality, being made from SunBrella fabric.
I’m going to do a bit more research on these as I could use some fresh seats for my ‘66. This company is about 2 hours north of my mom’s where I spend a lot of time. It might be worth a trip up the turnpike.

"I wonder if the passenger seat folds like the originals?"

The original passenger seat in my 67, pictured in my avatar, did not fold, and those shown on that site do not appear to be the folding type.

The seats look good, and I like that they have an opening between the bottom and back cushion which would let water out and prevent debris from gathering.

What I am not sure of is whether the listing is for one seat or a pair of seats. I did not see mention of that in the listing.

Have you tried the Bestop low backs? https://www.quadratec.com/products/...PbfY8PRP-O24P4_2l7P1rHFrGpKhDrIxoCn0UQAvD_BwE

I'm pretty sure Somar Motors is the same as La Casa Del Jeep (famous Jeep parts business in Puerto Rico).

It does say "Set" in the description and the tan ones are listed at the same price and do say "pair".

Yes, please do. I hope we hear from someone who buys a set of the seats, most of the reproductions are just a little too thick, though I do like the Smittybuilt seats I have in my Jeep.

I have often wondered why hardly anyone got the idea to reproduce the seat frames, since they would be fairly easy to make and there is certainly a market for them, albeit a limited one. Good to see these available.

I bought one of the seat frames more than a year ago. It's in my pile of parts waiting to be installed during my jeep rebuild. I bought it as soon as I saw it because I know they are hard to find. I have a 73. It seems to be of good quality. I can't compare it to the original because mine was missing when I bought the jeep. When I get to fitting the parts, hopefully this spring, I will report back how it goes. I bought some used seats from a newer model cj5/7 that are low back. I will also see how those fit on the frame.

I just saw on your link, should have clicked on that first, the frame I bought was for the 72-75, but it may be the same one, not sure.

I’ve had both Rugged Ridge and SmittyBuilt lowbacks in the past, and hated them both. They looked the part, but the foam is so firm that you sit “on” the seat rather than “in” the seat. To me, the seats are part of the suspension of our old Jeeps, and no reproduction seat has worked well yet. That why I may make a trip up to the business to sit in one before I decide to buy it. I do like the look and opening at the back/bottom. A few years ago (2018), these same seats and company came up for discussion here with no follow-through. They were only $350/pr back then.

I just went through this with my '68. The Rugged Ridge ones are a hard no. Too thick and way too firm. The Smittybilts aren't as good as the originals but they are acceptable. Not as thick and much softer than the Rugged Ridge seats.

I originally ordered Rugged Ridge seats and had to yank them in favor of Smittybilts so I could fit in the Jeep.

I ended up eating half the cost of the Rugged Ridge seats. Just the shipping to send them back was the same price as the seats were shipped. In the end I sold them for half price on Craigslist.

I'm very curious about these Somar ones.
