Speedo Cable Lesson Learned

Just a heads up when installing a speedo cable….

if you forget to attach this..


And it manages to settle against the exhaust, you end up with this…


Which causes this….

 

Good advice.
Had an old Chrysler mini van that died in the mountains.
throttle wouldn't work.
The plastic hold clamp had broken and the manifold melted the throttle cable in two.
Got a tow and they took one off a wrecked one and got us back on the road quickly. Was still on the van when we got rid of it. It was reinforced with Zip Ties just for added protection.
