I am not expecting much help with this given the response to my last question but maybe someone will take pity on me and give up the secret. My brake light switch on my 1974 CJ-5 is mounted on the brake pedal. I have look at the parts manual and the maintenance manual and can find no reference to this arrangement. A search of the internet doesn't give much information either. What is the trick to removing the switch short of using the proper amount of high explosives.

it been a long time since I've seen the brake switch of that type
now looking at it . the pin should have some kind of keeper on stud
now I am guessing the clevis end of master cylinder push rod . must be round and flat to activate the switch
and by design of so called switch . whatever keeper on it has to be removed
and I would think . by moving clevis on stud ( outward ) the switch should slide up and off

so I am not a expert on your year jeep . just trying to help

there is a clip on the stud that sticks out of the pedal. you have to pull the retainer thing up and slide the clip off then the switch will come off.
