    My '71 Dauntless CJ5's clutch makes an awful noise when depressed. Throw out bearing?

    yeah, that's the throw out bearing, looks like you'll be pulling the motor or dropping the trans :-\

    The throw out bearing is one of those things that I replace anytime I have a motor or transmission out, even if it feels good, just replace it, they are cheap.

    Strange to relate but I started Tonk up yesterday & there was a helluva screeching noise that was coming & going. Popped the hood & there were sparks coming out the bellhousing :shock:

    Whatever it was burned itself out but it's now noisy with the clutch depressed & it's slipping at anything with my foot on the pedal & slow to grab at that.

    I think I just got my fall project lined up. :(
