I acquired a complete drivetrain last week which has a fairly new ATV (Saturn) overdrive.

This is a rear shift version, and this one is supposed to have a "Guide Pin" installed in the front end of the shift rail bore. This guide pin is missing and I have ordered one from AA.

The pin pictured on the AA site has a groove in it which I assume is either for the little roll pin on the flange to enter as a retainer, or possibly for an "O" ring.

My question is: Is there supposed to be a seal on this guide pin?

Seems like there should be. There is a lipped seal on the other end where the shift rail comes out.

If so I couldn't find anything on it.

The old Warn front shift version I went through a couple of weeks ago just has an expansion plug in the bore and the shift rail, and an "O" ring in the bore for the shift rail on the business end. The shift rail on the Warn is not bored for a guide pin.

ATV Manufacturing is Herm Tilford, I.e. Hermtheoverdriveguy, not Saturn and Advanced Adapters. You need to check with Herm Tilford.

Yes ATV is Herm's company which rebuilds overdrives. As stated on his site, if you buy a rebuilt overdrive from him it may be Warn, Husky, or Saturn. This one is a Saturn, and I did check with Herm, had a nice conversation on the phone, he said to send an email which I did, with pictures but have yet to get a response.

    Yes, Herm rebuilds overdrives.
Herm also manufactures overdrive parts and overdrives under the company name ATV Manufacturing. ATV is a different manufacturer than Advance Adapters who manufactures the Saturn overdrive. You called them the same which they are not. I’m just trying to clarify for people who may not know the difference and for future searches.

The one I have is a Saturn which has been rebuilt by ATV, sorry if this confuses you.

Herm is a good dude, but very, very slow to respond and ship parts, but He has a lot of knowledge and parts. I've waited 6 months for parts to ship after they were paid for, but eventually got exactly what I needed, and they were hard parts to find.
