Hey guys, have been working on a complete suspension upgrade. It is a one piece reverse shackle kit that incorporates a 3" roller bumper to roll up on rocks. It is plasma cut from 1018 steel plate. It moves the front axle 2" forward and provides either 2 or 4" of lift. It has droparm on each side in which the shackles attach to and gives the front axle an additional 5" of articulation. The front frame is encased by the stucture and actually utilizes the attachment bolts of the steering box . . . there is no need for an steering box bracing, it is unbelievable. The rear portion is similiar except it allows for 8" of additional axle drop. The rear also provides a means to move the axle back 3" for a 6" total stretch. It's about an 8 hr install and hell yes your drilling. I will get some pictures out for you guys to take a look. It is installed on a 74 CJ5, but I have adapted it all the way down to a CJ2A and up to the YJ's.

After the pictures are up I would like to know if it is worth pursueing and what it should sell for.

Not to be rude but it would be nice if you introduced yourself first and then asked if it was ok to post something here asking if it's ok to conduct market research.

Sorry about that guys. . . George Stickles, avid CJ crawler, I own a 74 CJ5 and 76 CJ7. I live in Colorado. Didn't mean to be rude. I have been working on this project for 2 years and just trying to find out if it is a good idea or not. I don't think your rude Sparky just setting it straight.

Sounds like a neat product, but I think you might be overlooking some of the differences between the pre '72 Jeeps and your '74.

#1 - We don't have a steering box up front. Our bellcrank is attached to the center of the front crossmember, under the radiator. There is no saginaw box like a post '72, and no mount. Not sure if that's 100% necessary for your kit, but thought I would mention it.

#2 - Our brake/clutch pedals pivot off a shaft attached to the bottom of the drivers frame rail, just aft of the spring hanger. This will likely limit the ability of the shackle to move around, if you could get the shackle there at all.

#3 - Our master cylinders are mounted to the frame rail between the front spring hanger, and that aforementioned pedal pivot tube. This is going to make it nearly impossible to build a "bolt on" method of boxing the frame in that area to accept the shackle.

These are just my initial thoughts, and are going to hold true all the way back down to the 2A's... Post some pictures and let us see what you've come up with.

I had to laugh about that. I don't plan it that way. Just sorta happens it seems. BTW, welcome Armadillo!
