I was about to purchase this (see photo) and before I hit "send" the "material" caught my attention. It states "Steel Zinc+Copper Nickel" so I read the next line which states that it is copper and nickel plated. Being a newbie to this subject I thought I would ask people more in the know... is this sneaky way of selling an inferior product or is all "nicopp" plated steel? My gut tells me that this is a "fine print" trap I avoided and that nicopp is a solid substance from which the tubing is made, not plated.

Along those lines (no pun intended), can anyone recommend good vendor for a small run of nicopp tubing? Looking for about six feet (in 1/4 inch)? Can do more to prepare for the "next" project. Thanks all!

My assumption would be that that is the right stuff. The rest of the description lends itself to the correct product.

The ‘surface finish’ is probably just a default question on their form and they had to say something.

I agree, it must be correct. I haven't used it before so I didn't realize it had the copper finish. Interesting.

I don't use anything but the nicopp line. I also use SS flare nuts.

    Warning, Will Robinson! Warning!

I bought something inexpensive that I thought was nicopp, it looked coppery but it rusted in my shop and did not bend well. Fake nicop.

I would mention - "Nicopp" is a brand name that would seem to guarantee you get the desired alloy. Pretty sure "Cunifer" is another brand name for this stuff.

Check Amazon if you want a coil - returns will be much easier if it's misrepresented.

Your local parts store should have a stick of Nicopp with fittings on both ends that's roughly 6' in length. As above, I have bought pre-made pieces at Advance.
