Before, if I had to disconnect a hydraulic line, fuel, transmission or brake line, etc. I'd always stick a golf tee or something in it and wonder if it was going to still leak. If it was for longer term storage I'd put some tape over the tee and hope for the best. Now, I came across the best idea - those little, tapered disposable orange ear plugs that you roll in your fingers before inserting in your ears... These work wonderfully for keeping the fluids inside the lines as they swell to fit the lines and do not leak. Disposable and cheap. You probably already have some in your shop. Just a thought.

    Cheers,
    Chuck

Cool idea, especially for short term use. (y)

Test first with the liquid. I'ld hate to find out what melts them.

I'd probably end up putting the diesel flavored ones in my ears. I just bought a bunch of JIC steel plugs years ago and use them for the hydraulic/AN stuff. I also have a good collection of invert flare plugs. As Joe suggested, we need a compatibility test.

I have a drawer with a couple dozen raw wood golf tees. These tend to swell slightly with most fluids, so are a long-term plug for me. Today, they are painted or plastic and don’t seal very well.
