Dana 20 Question

My transfer case is hurting. I’m in the process of putting in a 4.3 sm465 and Dana 300 in the wife’s ride. Question is are the transfer cases the same between 74 and 76 ?I know the input gear has different splines as mine had a t14 and hers had a t150.both are Dana 20 cases. Can I use the input gear out of mine with the rest of her old one?

 

Can someone with a parts book check and see if the internals are the same excluding the input gear?

 

I'm confused with the Dana 300 needing dana 20 parts... is that supposed to be written as a dana 30 front axle being swapped infront of the dana 20 transfercase?

 

I would assume he means a Dana 30.

Looking at this chart from Novak https://www.novak-adapt.com/knowledge/gear-table/

Line 6 should include the CJ with the T-15 and T-18. This is the transfer case with the 18-8-46 input gear.

There is also a transfer case for the T-150 (line 10) that uses the 18-8-55 input gear.

Novak's chart has a note that these are interchangeable with the proper input gear.

The transfer case on line 9 for the T-14 with the 18-8-49 gear should also exchange with the proper input gear. I don't see any difference between this and the other two except for the input gear.

These gear numbers match what's given in the parts book.

 

Thanks Tim I am wanting to use her old Dana 20 and my input gear as my case has some bad juju going on.
