I’m redoing a hydraulic clutch. Getting about 1” of slave cylinder rod movement. I have one wheel on the ground. When I leave the transmission in gear and push in the clutch pedal I cannot turn the wheel. My question. Is the clutch not disengaging?
Am I thinking wrong? Should I be able to turn the wheel by hand if the clutch is disengaging?
How far should the rod move?

    Thanks

You understand that this is a modification? A '71 CJ-5 would have a cable-operated clutch from the factory.

Most aftermarket slave cylinders have a stroke of around 1" - 1 3/8". Sounds like your good in that department. Jack up both rear tires and try again, making sure the t-case is in 2 wheel drive. Or, if you have a helper, leave the jeep on the ground and one person try to push the jeep while the other works the clutch pedal.

Raising both rear wheels the drive line doesn’t turn. Just the wheels. I will try putting it on the ground and pushing. Thanks

Have you tried starting it up and checking operation? Only true way to test function. Otherwise too many variables over the intardnet to really check operation.

I don’t have it running. A project I took over.
