    What did you guys all do with all of the unused wires in your kits? In my Painless one it doesn't look like I can pull tabs out of the back of the fuse block; they are crimped on. Do you snap them off and then fold them back on themselves and then heat shrink closed?

    The tabs in the block may release, with the right tool to slip in alongside the holding barb.

    For those that did a painless kit – I’m a little confused on what to do with the highbeam and low beam wires from the fuse panel - which of the red and black wires are high and low beam?

    Which of the red and black wires on the parking lights are running lights versus the turn signal?

    Should I re-use this somehow?

    Apologies if this is a dumb question - I’ve never rewired a vehicle before and I’m not very good at electrical.

    EDIT: I had some time after feeding Junior to do some research at a computer and I think I have partially answered my own question from this thread (http://www.earlycj5.com/xf_cj5/index.php?threads/124443/)

    Headlights:
    Low beam = Black wire at bus bar.
    High beam = Red wire at buss bar.

    Tail lights:
    Black = lights on / running
    Red = turn signals

    Parking lights:
    Black = running
    Red = turn signal

    Right?

    and how about the 12V top mounted wipers? Can i use this new variable speed switch or do I have to keep the old one?

    can anyone point me to a wiring diagram for the Old switch?

    Dont remove any unused wires, coil them up and secure them out of the way somewhere behind the dash. That way you will already have the wire if you ever decide to add something in the future.

    I just pulled them all up tight, and then I zip-tied them tight together. And then I just found a place to zip tie them up to the firewall behind the dash out of sitee. I also put electrical tape around the edges. I really liked the Painless wiring kit but it was super expensive and well over half of it did not get used
