Yes. The original gear will almost always swap.

I found what I hope is the correct cap on Ebay and a call to NAPA has me another one here on Saturday. I already have Pentronix ignition in this Jeep and it has worked very well of over a year. I'd love HEI (and I have one sitting on a shelf) but I have a couple issues that are stopping that just now. Maybe some suggestion/solutions will appear here. Since Oldtime knows every part and Daryl has built 100 of these things I'm in good company.

Both of these issues kind of tie together so solving one will not help without solving the other.

    1. When I added power steering I had to make spacers to move my PS mount/pump out 1" in order to line up with the unused crank pully. Doing this put the mount and pump in the way of the big HEI distributor.

2.Recently I added YJ pedals with power brake booster. The brake MC is right behind the PS reservoir cap preventing it to move back even if I could get the pulleys to line up.

I'm sure y'all have made this work this before so your comments/solutions are very welcome.

This picture You can see the spacers on the PS mount and how close the PS cap is to the MC.

I actually have a low PS mount on another engine but cant use it as I have the steering gear inside the engine compartment. (Herm Mount).

I am far from an expert but I am thinking if you were to use the PS pump that has the press on pulley you would be able to remove the spacers.

The pump it looks like you are using has the keyed shaft.....with a threaded shaft and a nut to hold the pulley on...

But the other Gents would know for sure....

That’s easy enough. But now those darn brakes are still in the way.

How hard is it to remove a brake booster and run the MC off this ‘91 YJ brake bracket? What parts would I need?

Since your running a power steering pump already, I'd swap a hydroboost unit for the vacuum booster. Project creep!

I know project creep! I’m not sure what those parts are. Is it a bolt in swap? How much length would it save?

I’m willing to look at any options. What is the total length off the firewall?

My ‘66 seems to have a 1967 distributor. No surprise to me the PO pieced this thing together in many ways.

    Update
    I definitely have a ‘67 distributor on my ‘66 CJ5
I received the correct distributor cap in the mail today. It fits much better now and I got the jeep running well.
    Thanks everybody for the help.
