    in my humble opinion...

I have a 58' CJ-5, and have owned it for around 23 years.
I've had a few others over the years along with a Disco and an FJ, some daily drivers and some toys.
Raising kids and a hectic life got in the way and while others came and went, my 58' CJ-5 sat for about 10 years unused in the driveway until the fall of 2020.

I'm going to spend the next year getting it refurbished and back on the road, but because it is still running all of the original running gear, brakes, steering, etc., I'm taking a hard look at upgrades. There is quite a bit of the remainder of the jeep that is not original, so that is softening the blow, but I'm a bit torn on keeping the original bits or not.
If I had a later model, especially one that didn't need some of the upgrades to begin with, I think it wouldn't be such a tough decision.

How about a trip off the summit of Trail Ridge Road with no brakes-blew out a rear wheel cylinder on my Benz 219. The emergency brake worked well and I shifted a LOT of gears. An exciting if uneventful trip back to Ft Collins.
