So, I have a late '75 CJ5. I am finally getting around to working on it. It is far from original. So, unless I'm wrong, an intermediate "Jeep" stamped should be stamped higher along the door opening. Mine is stamped along the edge of the door opening. So am I correct in assuming my panels are early run 76 panels on my '75? With that said are my tail lights original utilizing the '76 panels as well? Did all late model 75's have the round lights for backup and running lights? Or has a PO removed the existing and added them at some point?

    Thanks file11-2.jpeg file4-15.jpeg

75 was 1st year for the Jeep stamping along the bottom of door. 75 will have round tail lights.

Thanks for the clarification. I guess I need to look to see how butchered my wiring harness is for the back tail lights. I absolutely hate those lights I have on.

Yes. body looks right for a '75. I don't see anything that's contrary. The taillights are wrong, as rusty points out. They are from a '76 or newer and mounted where the backup lights should be. The original taillights were down low, and got smashed by rocks etc. pretty often. The original style lights are scarce today.

For what it's worth, here's pics of my 1975 CJ6. The "Jeep" stamping looks the same. I have the round taillights, but I'm not sure if they're original or not.

Those lights look right from here. The driver's side light should have a clear window that lights the license plate that normally hangs below. It will also have a "pedestal" (for lack of a better description) that holds the license plate bracket out from the body.
