One of the things that I hadn't finished on my CJ5A was installing the footman loops in the original Willys tailgate. It is set up for 4 of them with the holes being 2 1/8" center to center. Since I am trying to complete all the chrome from the original Tux Park configuration I wanted either chrome or stainless steel footman loops. I checked all the major vendors, and they either didn't have chrome/stainless, or didn't list the mounting dimensions. So I broadened my search and found a couple of marine vendors that do list detailed specs for footman loops in 304 stainless. I thought I'd share them for those of you looking for some of these harder to find small parts. And they are very cost competitive with the regular vendors.

Thanks for the Heads Up, I like Stainless, always got to Marine Store first to look for stuff. Where my Cabin is they use a brine for dust control, it will rust chrome, especially cheap chrome, I try to always try to find stainless bolts and screws for my Jeep.

I've picked up 304 stainless footman loops locally from West Marine, but I'm in a boating area.

By the way, your Tux never came originally with either a Willys tailgate, or footman loops. The Tuxes had a raised blank plate where yours is embossed Willys, and the Tuxes soft tops were a later generation that used snaps rather than 1" straps that required footman loops. The original Tux tailgates were pre-punched wth knock-outs for the footman fasteners (as well as the rear body panels) but that was a carry-over from earlier years.
    A bit of Tux trivia!

Thanks Donny, by Willys tailgate, I mean the Jeep is a Willys. It has the correct CJ5A tailgate with the blank panel and the mounting holes for the swing away license plate mount. The holes for the footman loops are already there so I wanted to find something to fill them in and this was the easiest route.

As a side note, my original tub did have the corner brackets for the old style top poles as well as some further forward along the sides, in the same location as the poles shown in this eBay Tux. I don't know if mine had a Surrey top or any top, but the mounts were there. It also had screw holes for snaps along the top edge of the tailgate. I reused them for my Bestop. They weren't in exactly the correct location, but close enough to reach.

Tuxes never came with Surry tops either. The Tux in your reply is someone's interpretation of what they think a Tux is. Lots of details aren't correct on that one.
All CJ5 tubs prior to sometime in mid-'66 had stake pockets on the corners, as well as the forward set. Tuxes with soft tops had White, or Whitco branded tops that used fold-down frames.
Your Tux should be a Kaiser Jeep, not Willys, though there may be a sticker on the firewall that carried over the Willys name.
