    Huh. Seems an unlikely culprit. No personal experience, but the Pertronix module is powered by the coil wire, I thought.

    What is this “stand alone switch” one speaks of? Should only need the ignition switch.

    It is a single switch, and yes it is needed for this application.

    {It is hidden from yard monkeys that sometime like to play in the jeep and
    to keep the petronics ignition from being left powered on while the engine is not running
    so as not to damage the module.}

    So the second switch is actually a battery disconnect ?

    Sounds like an ignition disconnect more than anything. Maybe some more info might clear this up?

    The single switch is in-line between the ignition switch and coil.. Simply a "safety switch" for the electronic ignition. "Just in case the grand kids find the key and turn it on and leave it on"
