Bypass Or Not On My 60 F134

Discussion in 'Early CJ5 and CJ6 Tech' started by marty salisbury, Nov 3, 2020.

  1. All,
I have read a number of post on the option of using the bypass or not on my 60 F134 cj5. The bypass is on the 57 F134 but not on the 60 F134. I was planing on not using the heater and just putting the line from the water pump to the rear engine port. I don’t plan to use the Jeep in the winter so don’t need the heater. Any thought would be appreciated.
    Thanks for the help
    Marty

Sounds like a plan to me.
Just loop it without the heater won't hurt it and you already have the fittings.

  4. Thanks again guys. This helps me moving forward. I’m hoping to get it started this weekend. I’m sure I will have more questions.

    Welcome from Macomb County!

That bypass hose will do just fine. The other way to do it would be to run a small bypass line on the front of the head to the water pump. I'll see if I can get photos later. However I'm not convinced that would work as well as the larger hose that normally supplies a heater. It would just be a cleaner looking installation.

Welcome from Wayne County, what Ken says I have a heater in my Jeep, but I have a running motor on a stand in my Garage with it blocked off. Good Luck
