To cut the floor or not to?

Ok so the t18 is in and the tcase is nearly doine being rebuilt. I ordered a 1" body lift to give a little more room for the t18, but the more I think about it the less averse I am to cutting a nice hole in the floor and scrounging up a bigger tranny cover. Is this a bad thing? Is this tantamount to tax evasion and stealing candy from kids? Your feedback is appreciated.

P.S. Recall that this is an otherwise original '74 with two little tiny specks of rust behind the taillights.

After seeing 53flattie's pics the T18 must use a diffren tranny cover that the T14. Maybe if you can track down one of thoes you won't have to cut the floor.

 

my plan is to build my own tranny cover. i figure i have brewed up everything else on the body at this point why stop now?
