Where do you buy your brake parts? I have priced the brake parts from Vintage Jeep Parts and they seem resonable.

    Rear Wheel Cyl - 16.00
    Hose - 8.00
    Fronts 60° -27.00
    Hose 8.0 each side
    shoes per axe - 33.00

I am going to call some local guys to see if they carry the parts but I normally find the local guys very expensive (these old parts are slow movers).

Check with Krage as well www.jeepdoc.com They'll take care of you. Just be sure and ask if the parts are in stock ;)

    Too true!

But they're helpful. I've talked with Dan (the President) before on the phone.

He was extremely helpful when I knew nothing about the CJ-5 I had just purchased. ;)

That basic site design has been on the net since '98....

Kinda fun to look at, in a "historical pictures of old train wrecks" kinda way...

I have been able to get most of my brake parts at my local auto parts stores. Most of the time they can't find it on the computer, but they pull out a thick parts book and find a cross number. I think sometimes they must take 2 asprins when they see me get out of the truck to come into the store.

Thanks a million for all the replies. I found the shoes at Auto Zone but found wheel cylinder and hoses cheaper on line. I am rebuilding the brakes shoes, wheel cylinders, hoses and springs (everything but drums) for $200.

For $75 more you can jump up to 11" brakes and have really good brakes. Doesn't include hoses but does include NEW drums and all new hardware, etc. R&P at 503-557-8911 sells them. Nickmil.

You'd need donor backing plates as well. ;)

Isn't that for just one end though? Whatever you do Weedy, definitely have good drums too. If they need turned get it done. If they're no good get new ones. Without good drums you won't have good brakes.

    Yup. Rebuilt and powdercoated black.
Yer right, that's per axle, but includes everything new except backing plates which have been rebuilt and powdercoated and a few of the hardware pieces that can't be purchased new but have been rebuilt and painted black. Everything else is new and includes new drums. The hoses aren't included in the kit to help cut costs and there are too many variations in what people need, like length to accommodate lifts, etc. Nickmil.

Apparently so. Doesn't show the drums, but they are included too.

Looks like everything's new on the fronts except for the backing plates.

Spending $200/axle on 9" brakes seems wasteful, when you can buy these.

Make sure that your wheels will fit over the 11" drums.
