Alternator Bracket Replacement?

    New to jeep - open to learn - in plain clear english please :D - just learning about cars in general
    What is best replacement alternator bracket and belt for: 1973 CJ5/232/3.8L
    Mine is cracked and needs replacing. thanks!

    Hi - first, you're in the wrong form. A '73 is an intermediate Jeep. This forum is for '71 or older.

    There is no aftermarket source for those brackets. You can find another used one, fabricate a replacement, or fix this one. It would help to post a picture of the bracket you need. I have a '74 book and I think '73 is the same. There is a big C-shaped bracket at the front, and a small L-shaped bracket at the back; Jeep PN 3217213 and 3217214 resp.

    Looks like a stamped steel bracket. A good welding shop can probably fix it.

    The belt should be easy. I get Jeep PN 3223004. Look it up by application at RockAuto, or have the parts store look it up, or match it by length. Easy.
