Now that I am finally getting over selling my 71 I am on a search for something newer with an automatic transmission. I mentioned that we have a 2009 Infinity G37 convertible with only 63,500 miles. The bad part is the scratches and dents on the passenger side. I have been trying to get my wife to part with it for years. She finally agreed. :bananatool: Still need to sell it though. She told me she will drive the new rig to work (less than 15 minutes).
That puts the budget for a new rig around $15,000. Should I purchase one done or try to find one for less and build it how I want? I found one that seems to have everything I want. D44 rear, lift, 35's, 4.1 transfer case. Unfortunately he is supposed to be getting an offer today.
    Anyway stay tuned!

There is always money to add when we buy a 2nd hand car. The opposite never happened. Sometimes we can make some profit when selling afterwards. Just don't rush the good bargainwill come, check carefully.

Got a quote from CarMax on the Infinity and now my wife isn't sure. Jeep fund may have gone down dramatically. Stay tuned. I did find one I really like per above but he said he was getting an offer yesterday, still listed though.

The one I was hoping to get is sold, plus if I don't sell the Infinity it was going to be way over budget. The same guys has another one I am looking at.

What was the one you were interested in buying? Sounds like a TJ Rubicon if it had 4:1 transfer case - guess it could have been even more recent - not sure what older JKs are going for these days.

We have had no success with dealing with dealers for trade-ins or whatnot - its a bit more hassle, but selling on the street has yielded way more money (30-40%)....

Early 2000 with lots of upgrades. 4" lift, D44, 4:1 t-case, 35's, winch, rocker protection etc. The other one looks a little more abused with 36" Swampers.

For some reason the majority of them are manual transmissions. I guess I am not really in a hurry. They do seem to hold their value. Must haves are the straight 6 and automatic. Nice to haves are D44 rear. If it has a lift that is a plus.

for that price range = you can get an LJ! albeit this one is a manual...
2005 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon - cars & trucks - by owner -...

Prices seem about the same here in Colo - a comparable built TJ with 4.0 auto:
2003 Jeep Wrangler Sahara TJ, 135k, auto - cars & trucks - by owner...

In email conversations with John Briggs (Posi) he has sold me on the automatic transmission. I have a rare autoimmune and I am getting older. After shifting hundreds of times on the trail it takes me a week to recover.

Still looking. Since my wife will be driving this to work I need to find something that makes us both happy. She said no to the green one above. Probably a good idea anyway. Needs new tires, new rear window and the AC works intermittently. On the plus side both axles have ARB's and the rims are bead locks.

unlike the ad at a car dealership . I read . when buying last car (used)
The car your thinking about today . might be gone tomorrow
I think it's more like . the one you missed today . a better deal comes tomorrow

Doubtful but it will be seldom that she has to drive it. I get to work from home with occasional day trips. For the foreseeable future I won't be going anywhere. She may have to drive the 10 minutes to work 3-4 times per month.
