Well That Sucks..

Took my grandson out for a Jeep jaunt today.. About halfway into the trail the brakes get wonky .. Like pedal goes to the floor .. Stops but not well. So we finish the trail and I have a look under the hood. Hmmm. The drivers side tire looks wet. Damn! The hose rubbed on the tire and has a hole in it. Limped home... Of course I put disc brakes in the front. No idea what the hose is.. NAPA guy figured it was a GM hose.. New one be here in the AM

 

There's a moral here ...

I have always thought that the factory configuration receives a lot more scrutiny and user-testing than anything owner modified. Some of you do great work, but not everything works out the way you expect. Not criticism, but something to keep in mind.

 

It's my fault. I had these hoses twisted away from the tires. Then last winter I removed the front end and put it back.. Brain fart on the hose.

 

I have just had an issue with my brakes the last week, brakes started feeling softer and took longer to stop it ended up being a master cylinder and a small leak in a braided steel line. Of course the master cylinder i run is a GM corvette style that had to be ordered missed my trip

 

Coulda sucked a lot worse if you'd done a wile e. coyoyte into a canyon or rock face. With your grandson.

I can go really slow in my low range. Once I figured out what was up I was being real careful. Low gears paid off today.

 

All better now. Thanx NAPA.. Now I am looking for braided hoses.
