    Pretty sure that all Dana 30 housings are not the same. I recall that the housing strength was improved ca 1976, with the introduction of either stronger tubes, stronger housing casting, or both. This specifically addressed the long-side tube cracking the housing socket and bending. Likely you'd need to get some big air to have this problem. According to Jeep, the need for a front axle truss was eliminated. In terms of compatibility, they are the same.
