Alright, the D44 is back together, and in tip top shape (for now.)

I'd now like to go through the D27. I'd like to replace bearings, seals, wheel cylinders, and everything else that I come across that should be replaced. That's where you come in.

Since I've never been inside a front axle with warn hubs (or w/o for that matter.)

What is a general list of items I can expect to replace?

Also, I can't find any threads dealing with this, though I remember reading about getting into the hub. So, please point me to a thread, or lay it out here. How should I proceed?

O, one more thing, I don't intend to go into the differential at this time. I'm fairly certain has been rebuilt in the last 10 years, without much drive time on it.

    Thanks a mil or two.

start soaking bolts w/oil. if you have the allen bolts in the lock out hub, plan on getting new hubs in case the po didn't use never seize on the aluminum part of the hub. the face of the hub must come off to take the snap ring off to renmove the rest off the hub. plan on new knuckle seals as well. be carefull on removeing the axle, you might pull the axle shaft apart, unless you have the "spicer" (u-joint) style of shaft.

On the dana 25/27 if the axle has not been gone thru, you can expect to replace the upper and lower king pin bearings and seats and reshim them as needed, the inner axle seals (possibly), the outer knuckle seals along with cleaning the ball socket the seals ride against. Not all of the axles will have snap rings, there suppose to but alot of time a PO will have omitted them, don't replace the hubs unless needed, i don't use anti seize on my hubs, never have and there fine. On the front axle you will litteraly have to start from the outside and remove everthing to get the axles out and the king pin bearings apart for replacement, its not hard but it will take a good day for a novice to do it all.
The only out of the ordinary tool needed is a fish scale for setting the kingpin bearing pre load. When reassembling use permatex thread sealer on the bolts.
