I am in the process of doing a frame off of my 66 CJ-5. I have been looking for wheels and tires for the car and haven't been able to decide on the ideal look.

In your opininions, What would be the ideal tire and rim size for the 66 cj-5? I was planning on going with a little more wheel (8.5 - 9.5), but don't want to deal with rubbing.

Any thoughts would be great, because this has been driving me crazy!

What's the rest of the buildup like? Paint Color, top color, bumper styles...etc. Any pics of it so far?

It is getting painted this week (New Steel tub and fenders). I also found a 66 NOS Ventalating windshield. It will be Hummer Yellow. Black interior and top. It has stainelss steel bumper in front ans bumperettes in rear. Everything else is stainless or chrome. I have pics, but I can't figure out how to save them as a smaller file. They keep coming up as too big.

Use http://www.irfanview.com - load the program, open the picture files then choose image/resize. Pick something like 400px wide. Resave the file.

My opinion, with the black top, and stainless and chrome, especially with the yellow, would be chrome wheels, aluminum, or some nice shiney black ones.....

They give a nod to the classic slot mags like Patrick has, yet look updated. Name fits too...;)

Those were the wheels I picked out last week. I have been trying to find other options, but you are right, they do look classic.

How much lift is on that? The shocks look about twice as long as mine.

No lift. I am using the standard mounts. The shocks were hanging without being compressed. What wheels are you running on yours?

    Patrick,

Do you have a lift on your jeep? If not, Do you have any rubbing with the 32 x 10.5. It looks great.

    $Tockon Wheel$ HD Steel wheels, 15 x 7 with 32" x 11.50 BFG MT's:

I also had them on my CJ5:

Wanted the original look, but couldn't find any of the original KH steel 15 x 8 rims at the time.

Those are 32x11.50's. I've got Skyjacker 2.5" springs..... I also run 1.5" wheel spacers, and I do get a *little* rub on the passenger inner fender, inside slightly rear of center, at full compression, wheels turned hard right....
