I acquired a pile of parts that are supposedly 1971 CJ5. It’s seems to be quite the task to ID them exactly but hopefully the pics help. It had V6 motor mounts on the frame that had been removed. Numbers on the right side of the frame are 372175. 9C6EB0F4-CE8D-418A-B646-ADE9AA2E0D3C.jpeg

Usually the sequential serial number is stamped into the frame, on the top rail near the front right shock mount. You may be able to compare that to the serial number document (sticky thread here) and guess at the year.

I suspect there is nothing really distinctive about a '71 frame, compared to any CJ-5 frame starting in the 60s. They changed a lot for '72. Lack of diagonal braces to the (now missing) rear crossmember suggests it's '70-71ish.

    Welcome from Boston!

The sequential numbers are 372175 and I did manage to find a spot that showed what they thought were numbers for 1971 and this matched up. Was hoping for a definitive “yes its a 1971” from all the knowledge on this site.

If the numbers on the frame look original I'd bet you're safe with it being a '71. Someone would have had to grind on the frame to get rid of old numbers in order to stamp new ones.

This site has its own serial number document. Is that the one you refer to? If that matches, there's not much more to discuss. Maybe someone else here will have some additional feature-based identifiers to contribute. The main feature I see is the big empty space between the frame rails and the cross-member with 31 1/2 written over it. This is in front of where the rear cross-member used to be at the 27 1/2 label. This empty space is characteristic of the mid-70 change to the rear under-floor gas tank. Earlier frames would have bracing for a pintle hitch across there. '72 and later is completely different. Late '70 or '71.

That is a late 70-71 frame. The two extra body mounts toward the rear, spaced at 31-1/2", give it away. I have v6 frames here from 66,67 and 69. None of them have those two extra body mounts. Steve's 71 does however have them.
