I have been looking but cannot find a place to get the front grill mount for my '71. The body mount kit I bought did not come with one. Also when I put the fenders back on the tub, and the grill, I would like to know where I can find the gasket that goes between them? If anyone has any ideas I would love to hear from ya.
    Thanks!

I am looking for those gaskets too. Will be keeping an eye out on this thread. I was going to wing it with some replacement item, but have not found a good substitute.

I skipped the gaskets. You might try 4Wheel Parts Hardware for the front mount. They have a Vintage Jeep catalog.

If your asking about the mount that goes under the grill to the frame, I believe I have one setting on my bench, I will check tomorrow.

As for the gasket between the fender and the tub, try JC Whitney. Get a roll of universal fender welting. You can cut off the exposed round welt (used in old VW beetle fenders) and just use the thin flat rubber between the tub and the fenders.

Thanks for the help. I think I will try the rubber in a bike rim. It is thin and looks like the right width.
    I love this place...

At some point, Jeep switched to putty between the fenders and the body. It seems to be the same as the "rope caulk" that they sell at the home center. Long ago it was made of clay and linseed oil; the modern stuff is better and won't harden.

Is that the same as "butyl tape"?

Maybe. The stuff comes in a roll, separated by paper. The caulk is a long cylinder, about 3/16" in diameter, and (ha) putty color. Meyer also used to include it with their cab kits to cushion and waterproof the joints.

Sounds the same, cept butyl tape is flat, and available in different widths. I used it on the MH everywhere something attached to the roof.
