Problem with distributor

Hey guys, I have a 77 cj5 with an inline 6. The vehichle was jarred when it hit a small tree sliding down a hill. Fun stuff! Anyway, The distributor turned clockwise all the way toward the engine and popped the dist cap off. I am am assuming the timing is off now and the distributor need to be replaced my biggest question is has this happened to anyone else and does anyone think it will happen again once the distributor is replaced? Any feedback would greatly be appreciated. Thanks again for all your help!
