I don't really like the idea of doing any thing to the T case till someone else is aroud.I'll never get it back together (right) if I don't take detailed notes.I have never done any thing like this before.I have more time than money but thanks all the same.

Lite weight,:D I haved pulled mine twice now, laying on my back on a creeper with towels on my stomach (protective gear) with the transmission and transfercase still together:shock: had my wife pull me and the creeper out from underneath the Jeep and then pick it all up and put it on the bench by hand_______ and I'm 41 years old. I did my twin stick conversion last week and it was much easier this last time with the body off, I just unbolted it from the crossmember after the engine was pulled and picked it up and carried it to the garage.;)

Yea but in my younger day I could have bench pressed roughly twice what this thing weighs, and not just once but several times easily! I have to screw in clevis's at work on tools we take apart that weigh 60lbs a piece, to lift molds that weigh 100,000lbs.:) So even as an overweight old fart I still get a heck of a workout on the old arms, back and shoulders daily.:D

For lowering the tranny without (or even with) a transmission jack I would use a rope or ratchet strap that goes over a 4 x 4 that's supported by the roll cage. This way you don't have to worry about the thing falling off the jack or crushing the guy on the floor.

You can also put a scissors jack on the 4 x 4 and run the rope over it. This can give you some fine up and down adjustments when putting the trans back in.
