I'm about to start on axles. Rear diff in 67 CJ5 replaced by previous owner with Dana 44 with 11' drums. Sounds like I need to order seals and bearings for a 74 CJ5 Dana 44 rear. Is that right?

    Thanks for your time.

A '74 will have a centered flanged Dana 44 and come from the factory with 11" drums. '72-75 are all equipped with these. Is it a flanged or tapered (with a nut on the hub) axle? The 11" brakes will easily bolt on to the earlier tapered axle a '67 would have come with, or the offset flanged 44 used '70-71.

It is a centered 44. So I'm guessing it was taken off a mid 70's CJ. I just wanna make sure I'm ordering the right part.

When in doubt, bearing and seals will all have part numbers on them. Should be common items available locally.

Does appear to be a 72-75 CJ5 axle.
