I promised an update. So, here goes. (Yes I know, UWOP. Don't worry. I'll take a couple of pics as soon as I can get my paws on a dig. camera)

I got the pertronix ignitor installed, along with the epoxy filled pertronix coil, installed this morning!! I've always liked the v6 but never considered it to be any kind of powerhouse..... UNTIL TODAY!!!!!!! I've always had trouble with a high end miss, off idle stumble, and bucking/missfiring under heavy load at low rpm (such as a low speed turn thats too slow for second and too fast for first, and well we all know about downshifting a t14 into first  ) NO MORE!! I still have an intermittent miss at idle: kind of a soft 'lope' that I attribute to low compression/leaky valves. Man this thing runs great now. Just for grins I made a turn onto a side road goes up a slight hill without downshifting. No missfire. Period. Of course it sounded like six coffee can drummers under the hood, but none of them missed a beat ;)

The pertronix parts seem to be of good quality with detailed instructions. The whole job took less than 45 minutes and EVERYTHING needed was included. And of course, Summit Racing's service and delivery are second to none. I even got a free hat 8)

One thing I forgot. I put in new plugs gapped at 45 thousandths. In a week or two I'll look at them and decide if I'll try an .060 gap.

The module was 80 and the coil about 30 bucks. Shipping was free though.

Pertronix ingnitor kit # 1165. For Oddfire V-6 with Delco distributor.

Pertronix is a great way to go. I have 3 trucks set up this way. I used the lobe sensor stye in a chevy. All do the job well. The real bonus is that you can (and should!) carry the points/condensor/etc for emergency use. You would never have to switch back would you?? Electronics never fail do they?
