I recently had an issue with my T86 and purchased a rebuilt T86. When I recieved the "T86" it had T90 internals. I did some reading and found out that this is OK as long as you use a T90 shift tower. I installed the T86 casing with the T90 internals and had all sorts of issues getting the thing to go into gear. Remove the tranny took it to a local tranny guy. He dug into it and mentioned something to me over the phone about a shaving down of something. He stated that when you put T90 internals into a T86 casing something has to be shave down? What is this thing that has to be shaved down and could it cause problems later down the road????

Wouldn’t the guy suggesting shaving it down have that answer? I would call him back and get an explanation.

I've done the swap before and as far as I can remember didn't have to shave or machine anything. I'd call your tranny person back and get more info. Nickmil.
