    I got this today for the price of hauling it away for my Aunt. I'm looking forward to trying it out now that I have 220 in the garage.

    Nice score. Takes about ten minutes to wire a 50-Amp receptacle into a breaker box.

    Make sure you get "AC" type rods. I like 7018AC for smooth beads on new metal, 6011 for better penetration and on rust or crud.

    Good rods indeed, just a little easier to learn to strike an arc on 6013 or 7014 first.

    I put a 30 amp breaker in for my compressor, are you telling me to up it to a 50?

    7014 is a great rod to begin with. The biggest reason (aside from it being easy) is that it doesn't require ultra-dry storage like 7018. The little amount that you'll be stick-welding, don't waste the money on rods that will be junk next time you go to use them.

    I just looked up the specs on that welder, and it does specify a 50 amp breaker. You could probably get away with a 30 amp breaker to learn on with thin (3/32") rod, but if you are going to be changing plugs to match what you have, you might as well just change everything to 50 amp instead.

    I used all 50 amp outlets for my welders, all though I do have a 60 amp for my compressor. When I bought my Miller wire feed it came with a 50 amp plug , so I put a 50 amp on my Lincoln 250 stick machine so they all would be the same. The good thing about having a 50 amp 220 plug in the garage is you can back feed your generator to the house when your power is out. Good Luck

    You could put a 50 amp breaker in your main panel. Use it to feed a sub panel with a 30 amp breaker for your compressor and a 50 amp breaker for your welder.

    Does "Infinite" output make it easier to learn to strike an arc? Usually the first thing learned is how to stick the rod to the object being welded. :D

    There's no plug on the welder (yet) just wires. My Uncle had it hard wired.

    I went down the sub panel road when I bought my compressor, but settled on just adding a 30amp outlet and breaker. Why didn't I go with 50? :shrug:
