    Good tip. I haven't used the grinder in a long time...I hate it...I should sell it.

    Yeah, its how you're going to make your tool bits. You will also probably want to buy some stones to make the tool bits perfect. Sometime you may also want to make custom profile tool bits.

    I use the carbide inserts all the time, but sometimes the HSS is the right material. It often makes a much nicer part, although slower.

    If you put a green Carburundum wheel on one side you can sharpen brazed carbide bits just like you do high speed steel bits.

    Chain saw bar oil makes a pretty good way oil. Cutting oils are easy to find locally, the brown Oatey stuff in the plumbing aisle at local home box store is great for ferrous metals, WD-40 for aluminum alloys. Cut cast Iron dry.

    Hey Focker.... Went to a customer's house for a Lock rekey. He was a Retired machine designer for Gleason Works. He rebuilds Lathes as a hobby. He sells them for $2K on Up ! I think you did pretty well . (y)
