i'm not sure what year this thing is but i have a cj5 with a 258 six and a 3 speed tranny i think and a dana 20 transfer case i got some numbers off the side of the trans and they are 13 02 065 905 can someone identify this turd and tell me what year it is? there is also a tag on the shifter cover but it is not the same numbers as the case. the case is just over 8 1/2 inches long and from bolt hole to bolt hole it is 6x6 or just under.it is still attached to the bell housing so i cannot count the output shaft splines. thanks in advance for your help!!!!!!

A 72-75 CJ with a 258 will have a B-W T14, and a 76-79 will have a Tremac T150. List the numbers on the tag. There should be a Jeep P/N 9XXXXX or 535XXXX, a transmission type, like T14A, and a Borg-Warner part number. Cast iron Borg-Warner transmissions are not turds - no need to be crude.

    The first 4 numbers, 13 02
indicate that you have a T14.
Case length is 8.68, Input shaft 8.50"
These wre in CJs behind the AMC straight 6 between 72-75.
    1st gear 3.10:1, 2nd 2.61:1

The T14 was also used behind the Buick V6 from about 67 through '71, but it used a different length (1" longer) input shaft.

i didn't mean that the tranny was a piece of s**t. i have a t-14 in my '71 and i love the thing. i just have a cj5 frame with a engine/trans/transfer case and needed to identify the thing. i wasnt sure if it was a t-15 or what. just some pieces and parts that i need to get rid of.

i have another question. the question is will this tranny fit a v6 with the change of the input shaft? because i think the bolt holes are different to the bell housing?

It should be a 1" longer shaft length for the V6 as well as a different output shaft. The V6 shows as a 1 3/16 10-spline output, while the straight 6 version shows as a 1 3/8 6-spline output.
