$100 for the right frame located nearby vs. $200/250 (a price quote in a previous post)for one that will most likely have issues? I don't understand the delema.

FWIW, I've repaired several CJ-5 frames that have broken in the traditional places & have found that they just break again someplace else. They were designed to flex a certain amount for a certain number of times & after that they seem to fail. Repairs & "improvements" (winch mounts, plows, gussets, or even boxing it in) all make it more rigid in those areas which can transfer the stresses of off-roading (or driving) to other more vulnerable areas of the frame. Given your choice I don't see why you'd even consider lengthening a shorter frame unless you were going whole hog, boxing it etc. (or building it from scratch) in which case you'll be spending a lot more than either quote, even if you know how to weld it properly yourself.

If price is the primary driver here, how can you go wrong with the CJ-6 frame. Make the guy an offer!

If you look at the page I referenced, which has copies of original documents, you can see that the first serial number for the 6A was 10002.

I have nothing more on the earlier Tux's.
