Yes on the originals there was a slight indentation in the foam to leave a little space for the wires to go under the dash right above where the wires come out of the dash. You might notice that on mine I have a little plug and socket in the wires. As I am sure you have notice Jeep made the wind shields to be able to be folded down a little and taken off. Guess somebody at the factory forgot about that when they added the wires for the wipers. So one of the first things I did when I got it was to cut those wires and add one of those cheap little trailer plugs in the line so I could unplug the wires to take the wind shield off.

I agree with Tim. On the earlier ones the Naugahyde did not go across the opening for the latches and you could see the metal frame through the hole.
