This is what happened to this ujoint, it was very very tired

So I went to buy a new one at the specialised shop for old Jeep and WWII vehicles near my place; the owner is owning a lot of WWII cars and go to events with them. He wants only work on WWII military and no CJ5!

The object on the left is a mileage sign it was every km on the road from Normandy to Paris = Way fo the Liberty.
When I was young I was counting them in tha back of my parents car when we were on the road to Le Mans, where my grand-father was. It was very impressive.
In this place I found the good ujoint. By chance.
And by chance next hour it was put in position in the farming shop which I know.
And by chance the next hour I was putting the axle in position and the Jeep was again new!

There are vehicles to sell, and Jeep which are rebuild with the old equipement. Customers for this kind of vehicle ask for the exact original wire, or textile, or part... Hidden vehicles are probably the collectors of the manager.

Yes there are because there are collectors.
There was a lot of trucks at the end of the war, and in French army.
I'll try to scan some magazines with amazing photos of a guy keeping maybe 20 trucks and Jeeps in a big new barn.
The owner of this shop has many, including a big truck/boat. Don't know the name.

I've never seen a u-joint worn out from too much grease.
Get under the Jeep and give them all a blast of grease.

Alan, perhaps it was a DUKW amphibious vehicle? Also known as a 'duck.'

Yep, and a whole bunch stayed over there, along with trucks, tanks, artillery, etc. At least the people over there still show their appreciation and how greatful they are for everything.
